November 17, 2008 - Designed to provide low frequency magnetic shielding to polymer, composite, and metal parts, Nanovate(TM) EM coating can be applied selectively, allowing shielding performance to be focused where it is needed on part. Coating can be used to stiffen and strengthen shielded polymer, composite, and metal substrates. Product suits sensors, transducers, and other applications sensitive to low frequency magnetic interference.

Integran Introduces Nanovate EM Coating for Low Frequency Magnetic Shielding

Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Oct 29, 2008, Integran Technologies Inc. today announced
the official launch of their Nanovate(TM) EM coating which is designed to provide low
frequency magnetic shielding to polymer, composite and metal parts.

"The Nanovate(TM) process achieves high magnetic permeability by reducing the
crystalline grain structure of the metal to the nanometer scale, as opposed to other
processes that rely on extremely large grain sizes to achieve shielding." said Rich
Emrich, Program Manager at Integran. Design flexibility is the major benefit to
customers. "Industry is currently addressing these shielding challenges with the use of
awkward foils (such as MumetalŪ MetglasŪ or Permalloy) that need to be shaped and
annealed and assembled", said Dr. Jon McCrea, Principal Materials Engineer at Integran.
"Shielding properties are then lost if any deformation occurs after annealing."

Directly coating a complex part is a far superior solution for delivering shielding performance than working with awkward foils that require high temperature annealing on deformation.

Nanovate(TM) EM can be selectively applied by Integran, allowing shielding performance
to be focused where it is needed on a part. This process flexibility enables a reduction in steps in the assembly process, and commensurate production cost savings.
There may also be secondary benefits to customers, as the Nanovate(TM) process also
results in a very high strength, and high hardness material that can be used to stiffen and strengthen shielded polymer, composite and metal substrates.

Integran expects interest from customers working with sensors, transducers, and other
applications sensitive to low frequency magnetic interference to be particularly interested in this novel solution.
