Vishay's New 4-Line Bus Port Protection Array Provides Low Typical Capacitance of 1.2pF and High Surge Current of >11A in Ultra-Compact LLP75 Leadless Package

Device Features Low Profile of 0.75mm for Board Space Savings in Portable Electronics

MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - September 5, 2008 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today released a compact new 4-line ESD-protection array designed to provide a low capacitance with a high surge current for the protection of dual high-speed USB ports, or up to four other high-frequency signal lines, against transient voltage signals.

The VBUS054CV-HS3 is packaged in the leadless LLP75, with a 1.6-mm by 1.6-mm footprint and an ultra-low profile of 0.75mm to minimize the board space required for active ESD protection in a wide range of portable electronics, including portable and handheld computing, communications, industrial, and medical systems.

The new device features a low load capacitance of 1.2pF and a low maximum leakage current of <0.1 µA at the working voltage of 5V. The array offers a breakthrough voltage of typical 7V (at 1mA), and a maximum clamping voltage of 22V at 13A.

The bus port protection array provides transient protection for four data lines as per IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD) at 30kV (air and contact discharge) and IEC 61000-4-5 (lightning) from 11A. It is also compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.

Samples and production quantities of the new ESD bus port-protection array in the compact LLP75 package are available now, with lead times of 10 weeks for large orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery is $0.15 per piece in 100,000-piece quantities.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., a Fortune 1,000 Company listed on the NYSE (VSH), is one of the world's largest manufacturers of discrete semiconductors (diodes, rectifiers, transistors, and optoelectronics and selected ICs) and passive electronic components (resistors, capacitors, inductors, sensors, and transducers).
