New Balancing System for Toolholders Increases Precision and Spindle Life in High Speed Cutting

MORRISVILLE, NC...SCHUNK, INC., introduces a new PC-controlled balancing system for toolholders. The ACURO Balancing System combines an easy to setup balancing unit, along with graphical analytical software that provides manufacturers with an economical way to assure that toolholders and cutting tools run true. Out of balance toolholders and cutting tools contribute to spindle mounting, cutting tool wear, and bearing damage that can reduce machining quality and operating speeds. This compact system comes with a number of available options, including a laser-marking accessory.

The ACURO system aids manufacturers by increasing their cutting efficiencies and precision while decreasing maintenance costs. This system will detect unsymmetrical toolholder or tool shapes as well as eccentric running of the spindle that results in unbalanced operations. High measuring accuracy and repeatability are achieved through realistic simulation of tool mounting and clamping. The ACURO system features a precise adapter system, which accommodates most popular toolholders. Clamping is automatic via an electro-pneumatic control unit that simulates the operation of a machine spindle, with absolutely concentric tool insertion.
