ASTM International Workshop on the Adjusted Compliance Ratio (ACR) Technique for Characterizing Fatigue Crack Closure

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., July 22, 2009-A workshop on the Adjusted Compliance Ratio (ACR) Technique for Characterizing Fatigue Crack Closure will be held Nov. 11, 2009, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in Atlanta, Ga. Sponsored by ASTM International Committee E08 on Fatigue and Fracture and its Subcommittees E08.06 on Crack Growth Behavior, the workshop will be held in conjunction with the Nov. 9-12 standards development meetings of the committee. The ACR technique is being used by an increasing number of industries involved with the experimental characterization of fatigue crack growth. The objectives of this half-day workshop are: to increase awareness of the ACR technique; and to provide users and potential users with an overview of current research regarding the use of the technique, to enable a better understanding of its strengths and weaknesses. Online registration opens approximately eight weeks before the workshop and closes Nov. 4. The fee to attend the workshop for ASTM members and non-members is $50 for online registration and $75 for on-site registration.
