Metcam President Bruce Hagenau Speaks about Sustainability at Penn State's Advanced Manufacturing Forum

(Alpharetta, GA) –Metcam, a fabricator of sheet metal components and assemblies for OEMs, today announced that company President Bruce Hagenau spoke last week at the 74th meeting and 30th Anniversary of the Advanced Manufacturing Forum (AMF) held November 7-8 at Penn State University. Hagenau was invited to speak on sustainability by Gerald Susman, director of the Center for the Management of Technological and Organizational Change (CMTOC) and the Sustainability Council operated by Penn State's SMEAL College of Business.

"I read with great interest recently…about Metcam's outstanding sustainability practices," said Susman in his letter of invitation. "That prompted me to go to your company's website, where I learned more about your approach to the environment, quality and lean practices. These many initiatives and impressive results would make an ideal presentation for managers and students who attend the AMF regularly."

For the presentation, entitled "Sustainability: Business Builder for a New Era," Hagenau discussed Metcam's journey to sustainability and detailed how simple improvements—such as tweaking production processes and streamlining logistics—could help manufacturers begin to achieve this goal while decreasing expenses and increasing revenue.

"I welcome any opportunity to discuss sustainable practices with other companies and their executives, as well as students and educators," said Metcam President Bruce Hagenau. "The AMF presented the perfect opportunity for me to spread the word that adopting sustainable practices is not only a responsible decision for corporations; it is a financially beneficial one, as well."
