Lewco Invests to Better Serve Customer Demand

Sandusky, OH - LEWCO, Inc. has recently increased their productivity to nearly 50% of available time after investing in a new, state-of-the-art CNC press brake in addition to an integrated, custom roller conveying process. Now, the new work cell will deliver an even higher level of precision parts that meet a wide variety of customer requirements. It will also allow LEWCO the ability to more accurately record takt-times of how many parts can be produced in a day, according to Mark Parker, director of operations at LEWCO. "The culture of LEWCO is lean manufacturing and our whole concept of how we do business is single piece flow, visual management, and concepts like takt-time, cellular manufacturing and ergonomic work self" says Parker.

The press brake was manufactured by TRUMPF, Inc. and its capabilities include stainless, steel, and aluminum ranging in thickness from 20 gauge to 4 gauge. LEWCO will use the machine to fabricate oven and conveyor parts, such as plenums, supports and ball tables. "This machine and the investment in this equipment is just a further step of the lean manufacturing concept of LEWCO, by incorporating our ability to quickly turn parts and quickly meet customer demand in a very quality oriented way, which is really the ultimate goal" says Parker.

LEWCO, Inc. is a world-class, ISO 9001:2008 certified manufacturer of material handling conveyors and process heating equipment serving both national and international markets with quality products at competitive prices.
