GreenSure Ensures Manufacturers Availability ofEnvironmentally Preferable Product Finishing Choices
(CLEVELAND- May 25, 2006) - Sherwin-Williams Chemical Coatings Division is responding to increased interest in "green" materials and methods on the part of the manufacturing community by introducing the GreenSure(TM) designation for selected environmentally preferable products.
GreenSure is applied only to Sherwin-Williams finishes with very low or no VOCs that have been identified as utilizing more sustainable raw materials, are as efficient as possible in terms of consumption of energy and natural resources in their manufacture and application, and offer customers more environmentally responsible coating options from raw materials to distribution to final disposal - all while ensuring excellent coating system performance.
Sherwin-Williams Chemical Coatings first finishing system to bear the GreenSure designation is Sher-Wood® Ultra-Cure® UV Waterborne coating, developed specifically for the woodworking industry. The coating is formulated without formaldehyde or heavy metals. In addition, manufacturers can reclaim overspray, minimizing product waste and disposal costs.
Ultra-Cure UV Waterborne's advanced formulation provides a finish that meets KCMA, WDMA and AWI standards and has zero HAPS and low VOCs. It also has high solids for improved filling and reduces coating system steps and line time. Ultra-Cure UV Waterborne is ideal for kitchen cabinets, wood office furniture and wood and composite building products.
