Glenn Award for his contributions to the development of ASTM standards relating to coal and coke. Reagan chairs D05's Mechanical Sampling Task Group and serves as secretary of Subcommittee D05.27, the U.S. Technical Advisory Group for the ISO Technical Committee on Solid Mineral Fuels.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., 13 May 2009-ASTM International Committee D05 on Coal and Coke has honored Paul M. Reagan, president of Sampling Associates International L.L.C., Newport News, Va., with the R.A. Glenn Award for his outstanding contributions to the development of ASTM standards relating to coal and coke.

A member of ASTM International and Committee D05 since 1986, Reagan chairs D05's Mechanical Sampling Task Group and serves as secretary of Subcommittee D05.27, the U.S. Technical Advisory Group for the ISO Technical Committee on Solid Mineral Fuels.

A graduate of Brown University, Providence, R.I., where he earned a bachelor's degree in psychology, Reagan's career has focused on the sampling and analysis of carbon fuels and minerals. He joined Sampling Associates International in 1985 as division manager, and was promoted to director of operations in 1991. He assumed his current role in 1997.

Established in 1898, ASTM International is one of the largest international standards development and delivery systems in the world. ASTM International meets the World Trade Organization (WTO) principles for the development of international standards: coherence, consensus, development dimension, effectiveness, impartiality, openness, relevance and transparency. ASTM standards are accepted and used in research and development, product testing, quality systems and commercial transactions around the globe.
