Papers are invited for Ninth Symposium on Performance of Protective Clothing and Equipment: Emerging Issues and Technologies, to be held June 16-17, 2011. Symposium objectives are to showcase research and advances in personal protective technology; define existing and emerging challenges in development and use of PPE; promote information sharing between researchers, manufacturers, users, and government entities; and ascertain areas where new or revised standards are needed.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., -Papers are invited for the Ninth Symposium on Performance of Protective Clothing and Equipment: Emerging Issues and Technologies, to be held June 16-17, 2011, at the Marriott Anaheim in Anaheim, Calif. Sponsored by ASTM International Committee F23 on Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment, the meetings will be held in conjunction with the June 14-15 standards development meetings of the committee.
The symposium objective is to provide a forum for the discussion of emerging technologies and issues in protective clothing and equipment. Specific objectives are to: showcase recent research and advances in personal protective technology; define existing and emerging challenges in the development and use of PPE; promote communication and information sharing between researchers, manufacturers, users and government entities; and ascertain areas where new or revised standards are needed
The symposium is intended to broaden the awareness of safety professionals, manufacturers, end users, government and academic researchers, standards development organizations and certification laboratories concerning recent advancements and burgeoning issues in protective clothing and equipment.
Interested presenters must submit a 250-300 word abstract online at www.astm.org/F23symp611.htm by Aug. 15, 2010. You will be notified by Oct. 15 of your paper's acceptability for presentation. Symposium presenters are required to submit their papers to the Journal of ASTM International (JAI), unless the symposium co-chairs specifically grant permission to give a presentation without a manuscript being submitted. JAI is an online, peer-reviewed journal for the international scientific and engineering community (www.astm.org/JAI).
