Scheduled for Dec 9, 2013, Environmentally Considerate Lubricants symposium will provide technical forum for discussions related to current trends and details on current research efforts to advance use of bio-based and other environmentally acceptable lubricants. Papers are invited on fundamentals of bio-based lubricants, test method developments, applications, environment policies and testing problems, novel testing alternatives, and additive technology for bio-based/biodegradable lubricants.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., -Papers are invited for a symposium on Environmentally Considerate Lubricants, to be held Dec. 9, 2013, at the Marriott Tampa in Tampa, Fla. Sponsored by ASTM International Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants, the symposium will be held in conjunction with the committee's standards development meetings. The general objective of the symposium is to hold a technical forum for discussions related to current trends for environmentally considerate lubricants. It also provides details on current research efforts to advance use of bio-based and other environmentally acceptable lubricants, and develop new and improved environment test method and lubrication technology. Papers are invited on any of the following topics:
o Fundamentals of bio-based lubricants;
o Industrial trend for environmentally considerate lubricants;
o Applications;
o Test method developments;
o Environment policies for world;
o Environment testing problems;
o Novel testing alternatives;
o Additive technology for bio-based/biodegradable lubricants; and
o New technology for environmentally considerate lubricants.
To participate in the symposium, presenters/authors must submit a 250-300 word preliminary abstract no later than Dec. 10, 2012. The abstract must include a clear definition of the objective and approach of the work discussed, pointing out material that is new, and present sufficient details regarding results. The presentation and manuscript must not be of a commercial nature nor can it have been previously published. Symposium chairman Dr. In-Sik Rhee will notify you via postal mail by Feb. 11, 2013, of your paper's acceptability for presentation at the symposium. Symposium presenters are required to submit their papers to the Selected Technical Paper (STP), an online and printed, peer-reviewed publication for the international scientific and engineering community.
