W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-Papers are invited an ASTM International symposium on Fire-Resistant Fluids. Sponsored by ASTM Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants, the symposium will be held June 24, 2013, at the Fairmont Q.E. in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in conjunction with the June standards development meetings of the committee.
The objective of the symposium is to hold a technical forum for papers related to current trends for fire-resistant fluids and their development, testing, classification, regulation, application, use and monitoring. Potential topics for papers may be specific to a type of lubricant or functional fluid and may include but are not limited to the following aspects of fire-resistant fluids:
Development and testing of fire-resistant fluids; Classification and regulation of fire-resistant fluids; Applications for fire-resistant fluids; Test method development for fire-resistant fluids; Use of fire-resistant fluids in petrochemical gas compression; Use of fire-resistant fluids in military applications; Use of fire-resistant fluids in automobile manufacture; Use of fire-resistant fluids in coal mining; Use of fire-resistant fluids in steel manufacturing; Use of fire-resistant fluids in aluminum die-casting; Performance comparison of fire-resistant fluid types; Additive technology for fire-resistant fluids; New technology for fire-resistant fluids; and Condition monitoring of fire-resistant fluids.
To participate in the symposium, presenters/authors must submit and attach a 250-300 word preliminary abstract no later than June 24, 2012. The abstract must include a clear definition of the objective and approach of the work discussed, pointing out material that is new, and present sufficient details regarding results. The presentation and manuscript must not be of a commercial nature nor can it have been previously published. The symposium chairman will notify you via postal mail by July 23, 2012, of your paper's acceptability for presentation at the symposium.
Symposium presenters are required to submit their papers to the Selected Technical Paper (STP), an online and printed, peer-reviewed publication for the international scientific and engineering community. After the final selection of abstracts has been approved, the ASTM Editorial Office will send authors' instructions via email only. Manuscripts to be peer reviewed for the STP are due online no later than June 10, 2013, at the ASTM Editorial Office.
