Press release date: October 28, 2009

The expanded family of PEM® self-clinching captive panel screw products includes several UL-approved types designed specifically for tool-only operation. They are ideally suited to attach thin metal panels in applications where subsequent access will be necessary. Captive screws additionally serve to keep loose parts to a minimum and eliminate risks associated with hardware that can loosen, fall out, and damage internal components.

Type PFC2P(TM) recessed-head, spring-loaded panel fastener assemblies feature a Phillips drive and can be installed permanently in thin aluminum or steel sheets; Type PFC4(TM) spring-loaded panel fastener assemblies with Phillips drive permanently install in stainless steel sheets with hardness of HRB 88 or less; and Type PF10 flush-mounted panel screw components combine a screw with slot drive, retainer, and receptacle nut for permanent installation in thin aluminum or steel sheets.

All these UL-approved fasteners are manufactured from stainless steel to promote high corrosion resistance and can be installed quickly and easily using a PEMSERTER® or standard press to apply proper squeezing force.

Depending on type, available thread sizes range from #4-40 through ¼-20 and M3 through M6. The fasteners can be ordered with a DuraBlack(TM) finish to satisfy particular cosmetic requirements.

Detailed specifications (Bulletin PF) and free part drawings (PEM CAD Library) for these RoHS-compliant fasteners can be accessed at www.pemnet.com
