BOTHELL, Wash.--March 31, 2008--Lumera Corporation (NASDAQ:LMRA), a leader in photonic communications, announced today that it had been awarded an extension to a U.S. government contract to continue development of technologically advanced wideband optical modulators. The contract is valued at approximately $900,000; the overall funding value has now reached approximately $7.8 million.
"This is further validation of the superiority of our electro-optic devices and materials and, along with other Lumera government contracts, directly parallels our roadmap to commercial products," said Dr. Raluca Dinu, Vice President - Electro-Optic Business Unit. "Being chosen is recognition of our performance in meeting the technical and financial milestones defined in the contracts."
The objective of this contract is to fabricate low Vpi electro-optic modulators from high performance organic polymers recently scaled up or developed at Lumera. The low Vpi is crucial for development of phased array radar and high performance satellite systems.
