International Symposium focuses on plastic pipe and fittings.

July 23, 2009 - "Plastic Pipe and Fittings: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow," held November 9, 2009 in Atlanta, GA, is sponsored by ASTM International Committee F17 on Plastic Piping Systems. It is third in a series of symposiums focused on reporting current status of important aspects relating technology and standardization of plastic piping systems. Approximately 40 papers will be presented in concurrent sessions, and preliminary technical program will be posted on ASTM's website by early August.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., July 22, 2009-A symposium on Plastic Pipe and Fittings: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow, will be held Nov. 9, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in Atlanta, Ga. Sponsored by ASTM International Committee F17 on Plastic Piping Systems, the symposium will be held in conjunction with the Nov. 9-12 standards development meetings of the committee.

This symposium is the third in a series, the objective of which has been to report on the current status of important aspects relating the technology and standardization of plastic piping systems with a focus on their relationship to current applications. The first symposium on Buried Plastic Pipe Technology was held in Dallas, Texas, in 1990 and the second in New Orleans, La., in 1994.

Approximately 40 papers will be presented in concurrent sessions. A preliminary technical program (which includes presentation times, paper titles and presenters' names) will be posted on the ASTM Web site by early August. For more information, visit

Online registration opens approximately eight weeks before the symposium and closes Nov. 14. The fee to attend the workshop for ASTM members, presenters and session chairs is $135 for online registration and $160 for on-site registration. The fee for non-ASTM members is $200 for online registration and $225 on site. The fee is waived for full-time students with a valid I.D.
