ASTM to hold workshop on life cycle management.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., July 29, 2009 - A workshop on Life Cycle Assessment: Methodology, Current Development and Application in Standards, will be held Oct. 18-19, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in Atlanta, Ga. Sponsored by ASTM International Committee E60 on Sustainability, the workshop will be held in conjunction with the Oct. 20-22 standards development meetings of the committee.

This workshop will explore current evolution in LCA theory and application and will provide a critical examination of various perspectives in life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology. In addition, it will identify the pros and cons relative to the use of LCA and LCA criteria in standards.

The first part of the workshop (Sunday afternoon) will discuss state-of-the-art LCA practice and associated opportunities/challenges. The second part (Monday morning) will discuss the use of LCA in product development, product selection and product standards. This workshop will benefit product manufacturers, institutional purchasers, governmental representatives, standards developers and professionals interested in sustainability.

Online registration opens approximately eight weeks before the workshop and closes Oct. 14. The fee to attend for ASTM members is $245 for online registration and $270 for on-site registration. The fee for non-ASTM members is $270 online and $295 on site. There is no fee for presenters and full-time students with a valid I.D. For additional information, visit www.astm.org/e60work1009.htm.
