ASTM to develop proposed standard on inspection of drywall.

November 5, 2009 - During meeting, ASTM International decided to initiate formulation of proposed ASTM standard that will cover issues relating to drywall and indoor air quality. Proposed new standard, ASTM WK26072, Practice for Inspection of Drywall in Buildings Exhibiting Indoor Air Quality Issues, will be under jurisdiction of Subcommittee C11.01 on Specifications and Test Methods for Gypsum Products, part of Committee C11.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., October 27, 2009-At an ASTM International meeting held on Oct. 20 it was decided to initiate the formulation of a proposed new ASTM standard that will cover issues relating to drywall and indoor air quality. Representatives from various ASTM International committees, including C11 on Gypsum and Related Building Materials and Systems and E06 on Performance of Buildings attended the meeting, which was held during ASTM's committee week in Atlanta, Ga.

It was decided at the meeting that the proposed new standard, ASTM WK26072, Practice for Inspection of Drywall in Buildings Exhibiting Indoor Air Quality Issues, will be under the jurisdiction of Subcommittee C11.01 on Specifications and Test Methods for Gypsum Products, part of Committee C11.

All interested parties are invited to participate in the development of WK26072. The first working meeting on the activity will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in Atlanta, Ga., during the meetings of ASTM International Committee C11 on Gypsum and Related Building Materials and Systems.

Founded in 1915, ASTM International Committee C11 develops specifications and guides for gypsum products and gypsum board, metal lath, studs, fasteners and related metal products, as well as practices for application of stucco and EIFS products.
