ASTM Weathering Committee names Joe S. Robbins III chairman.

Robbins III, CEO of Arizona Desert Testing LLC, has been named chairman of ASTM International Committee G03 on Weathering and Durability, which oversees 32 international standards related to durability and performance of organic/inorganic nonmetallic materials, components, and combined assemblies subjected to various environments. Robbins, who joined ASTM in 1984, works on several G03 subcommittee and chairs Subcommittee G03.02 on Natural and Environmental Exposure Tests.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., -ASTM International Committee G03 on Weathering and Durability has named Joe S. Robbins III, CEO of Arizona Desert Testing LLC in Wittmann, Ariz., as its new chairman. The committee, with a membership of more than 150, oversees 32 international standards related to the durability and performance of organic and inorganic nonmetallic materials, components and combined assemblies that are subjected to various environments. Robbins, who joined ASTM International in 1984, works on several G03 subcommittee and chairs Subcommittee G03.02 on Natural and Environmental Exposure Tests. He is also a member of Committees C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates; D01 on Paint and Related Coatings, Materials and Applications; D20 on Plastics; and E44 on Solar, Geothermal and Other Alternative Energy Sources. Robbins founded Arizona Desert Testing LLC, a materials testing laboratory that specializes in accelerated and outdoor weathering services, in 1998. Prior to that, he held various engineering roles at DSET Laboratories Inc. in New River, Ariz., and at Salt River Project and Arthur Beard Engineers, both in Phoenix. Outside ASTM International, Robbins is a member of SAE International. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil and environmental engineering from Arizona State University.
