Manual 57, Routine Coal and Coke Analysis: Collection, Interpretation, and Use of Analytical Data, is now available from ASTM International. The manual, authored by John T. Riley, Ph.D., contains ten comprehensive chapters that give you the latest information available on routine coal and coke analysis.

Manual 57 provides descriptions of more than 35 ASTM standard methods, discussions of the utilization of the methods in industry, and the significance of the data collected using the methods. Chapters cover classification of coals by rank; microcomponents in coal; sampling; coal testing; proximate, ultimate and miscellaneous analysis; calculating coal analysis from as determined to different bases; and new developments in instrumentation for routine coal analysis.
