ASTM International Announces June Symposium on Fire-Resistant Fluids

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., —A symposium on Fire-Resistant Fluids will be held June 24, 2013, at the Fairmont Q.E. in Montreal, Quebec City. Sponsored by ASTM International Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants, the symposium will be held in conjunction with the June standards development meetings of the committee.

Fire is a major hazard in many industrial, transportation and military applications, requiring the use of approved fire-resistant fluids. Fire-resistant fluids are an essential component for the safe operation of systems in these industries where there is a risk of fire due to the requirements of that industry. Industry trends for higher performance, lower system fluid volumes and higher operating temperatures may be increasing the potential for fire in some applications. The objective of the symposium is to hold a technical forum for papers related to current trends for fire-resistant fluids and their development, testing, classification, regulation, application, use and monitoring.

Online registration is now open and closes June 15. There is no attendance fee for ASTM members, presenters and students. The fee for non-ASTM members is $50 USD online and $75 USD onsite.
