Metallurgical Consultant, Dean C. Krouse, has received ASTM International Founding Committee Award, which recognizes distinguished service to ASTM Committee A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel, and Related Alloys. Krouse was cited for his leadership and contributions to committee in development and promotion of voluntary consensus standards. He has been a member of ASTM International and Committee A01 for more than 25 years, and was recognized with Award of Excellence and ASTM Award of Merit.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., 16 January 2009-Metallurgical Consultant Dean C. Krouse has received the ASTM International Founding Committee Award, which recognizes distinguished service to ASTM Committee A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys. Krouse was cited for his leadership and contributions to the committee in the development and promotion of voluntary consensus standards.
Krouse has been a member of ASTM International and Committee A01 for more than 25 years. He works on several A01 subcommittees, and currently serves as vice chair of Subcommittee A01.02 on Structural Steel for Bridges, Buildings, Rolling Stock and Ships and as chair of A01.97 on Harmonization of Carbon and Alloy Steel Compositions. A01 has recognized his work in the past with an Award of Excellence and the ASTM Award of Merit.
After earning a bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa., Krouse joined the staff at Bethlehem Steel Corp., Bethlehem, Pa. During his 35-year career at Bethlehem Steel, Krouse's work focused on structural materials for the construction industry and metallurgical, quality assurance and technical marketing functions involving the company's products. He began his consultancy after his retirement in 1999.
Outside of ASTM International, Krouse also serves on technical committees of the American Iron and Steel Institute and ASME International.
