ASTM Committee on Homeland Security Applications Elects Mark O. Oakes as Chairman



W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-Mark O. Oakes, founder and chief executive officer of Intellimar Inc. in Sykesville, Md., has been elected chairman of ASTM International Committee E54 on Homeland Security Applications for a two-year term. The committee, with a membership of more than 360, addresses issues related to standards and guidance materials for homeland security applications.

Oakes has been a member of ASTM International since 2003. He is a board-certified Physical Security Professional (PSP) through ASIS International with more than 25 years of experience in the planning, design and construction of physical perimeter security construction projects.

Intellimar Inc. provides marketing and sales consulting services to the U.S. industrial security marketplace. Oakes has founded two additional companies since starting Intellimar in 1996 - Concentric Security, a perimeter security construction company, and Blue Ember Technologies, a security products manufacturing and distribution firm.

In addition to ASTM International, Oakes is a member of ASIS International, the Society of American Military Engineers, the Construction Specifications Institute, and the Coalition for Government Procurement. He holds an M.A. in accounting/finance and an M.B.A., both from Auburn University, Auburn, Ala.
