Zip-Pak Showcases Retrofit Machinery, Standard Zippers, and Value-Added Products at ProPak China 2012

Range of solutions help Chinese food manufacturers easily transition to resealable packaging

Shanghai, China - Zip-Pak, the global leader in materials and machinery for resealable packaging, showcase its retrofit machinery, press-to-close and slider zippers, and innovative package formats at ProPak China 2012, Booth 5C28. The company's full range of solutions is designed to help food manufacturers easily implement convenient resealable closures onto their existing flexible packaging lines.

Globally, Zip-Pak's material and machinery experts have guided the development of packaging lines for new products or package re-designs, acting as a single point of contact between food manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure a functional and convenient package for consumers. Zip-Pak is the only zipper supplier with an in-house equipment division; the Zip-Pak Systems division specializes in providing retrofit solutions for manufacturers looking to add a resealable closure to product packaging.

"What sets Zip-Pak apart is the expertise and experience of our global packaging specialists," said Tracy Wang, Business Manager at Zip-Pak China. "Our commitment to sustainability and consumer-value research ensures that we recommend the best possible material, machinery and design solutions for our customers as well as prospects considering making the move to resealable. At Zip-Pak China, it is important to us that manufacturers understand the value of resealable closures especially in a competitive market. When faced with a packaging roadblock, Chinese food manufacturers have traditionally turned to their pouchmakers for solutions, but as a closure and zipper applicator manufacturer, Zip-Pak is well-equipped to provide consultation on both machinery and closures."

Adding resealable solutions to a manufacturing line is simple, and requires little downtime, no extra convertors, and only small retrofit machinery. Zip-Pak closure systems can be seamlessly integrated into existing machinery without significant capital investments. Production is uninterrupted and solutions work in tandem with existing manufacturing machinery.

In addition to its retrofit solutions, Zip-Pak is highlighting its range of standard zippers, including both press-to-close and slider options. The company's Standard Flanged ZIP-PAK® Press-to-Close(TM) product features flanges that connect to the top, bottom or both sides of the zipper profile to easily attach onto film. The Standard String ZIP-PAK® Press-to-Close(TM) uses simple interlocking profiles and to enable an economical, effective closure for many resealable packaging applications.

For added convenience, the ZIP-PAK® SLIDER(TM) features an ergonomically designed "clip" that enables consumers to easily open and close a package. This technology is ideal for pre-made pouches and form/fill/seal applications, and can run on virtually all packaging formats and machinery configurations.

"Zippers have proven to be effective ways of reviving and refreshing existing packaging. It gives packages the extra impact that they need to compete in today's crowded landscape," added Wang.

For food manufacturers seeking innovative formats, Zip-Pak is also showcasing its Zip360(TM) and Zipbox® package styles. With a wide opening and pour-spout functionality, Zip360(TM) enhances consumer convenience across multiple applications and enables graphics around the entire surface area of the pouch to maximize shelf impact at the point of purchase. Zipbox® is an innovative package style that combines the stability of a carton with the convenience of a resealable flexible pouch. Zip-Pak's in-house equipment division, Zip-Pak Systems, developed the first converting machine and fill/seal cartoner to enable production of flat blanks and retail-ready packages respectively.
