Zebra Technologies to Offer Direct Communication Capabilities Between Thermal Printers and Oracle® XML Publisher

Enhanced communication function saves customers time and money by eliminating long printing delays

Vernon Hills, Ill. Nov. 12, 2007 - Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a global leader in specialty printing and automatic identification solutions, today announced that its line of Zebra ZPL-based thermal printers communicate directly and seamlessly with Oracle® XML Publisher. Now, Zebra ZPL-based printers-the first in the industry with this capability-can receive and process XML output from any Oracle application more quickly to eliminate printing delays, save customers valuable time and money, and improve operational efficiencies.

"Previously, thermal printers could only communicate directly with Oracle XML Publisher using open source drivers, which led to slower printing and reduced productivity" said Jeff Tingley, global alliances director for Zebra Technologies. "Now, with direct communication capability between Zebra thermal printers and Oracle applications using Oracle XML Publisher, Zebra customers can fully realize the power of Oracle's publishing solution."

Oracle XML Publisher, part of the Oracle E-Business Suite, is a template-based publishing solution that allows users to create report layouts with a set of familiar desktop tools or entering a pre-existing template. Oracle XML Publisher allows users to choose the output format of the report and then send the output directly to an e-mail address, printer, fax or WebDAV server, regardless of what application product is being used.

Seamless integration and communication between Oracle XML Publisher and Zebra printers allow customers to print from any of Oracle's current application products without extra steps or delays. This direct connection saves time by eliminating the need for multiple systems to integrate thermal label printers with Oracle XML Publisher. It provides improved thermal label printing efficiency within the customer's operations to result in improved first-label out time and cost savings.

"Oracle XML Publisher is the strategic reporting gateway for all Oracle applications," added Tingley. "Our first endeavor is this solution integrated to Oracle Depot Repair. Through the Zebra and Oracle relationship, we are making the thermal label printing process easier for customers in any industry," continued Tingley.
