FEINFOCUS FOX X-ray Inspection Series With New HDX-ray(TM) Imaging Chain

GARBSEN, GERMANY - FEINFOCUS, a business unit of COMET, announces the new HDX-ray(TM) 16-bit Imaging Chain for the complete series of award-winning FEINFOCUS FOX X-ray inspection systems. The system captures high-resolution images with film-like quality, even in real-time, providing an enhanced solution for defect detection. HDX-ray provides the sharpest digital images available for thorough inspection of applications requiring high magnifications, such as MEMS/MOEMS, semiconductor packages, high-density interconnects, hybrids, and encapsulants.

The fully-integrated 2.6 mega pixel imaging subsystem features more than 65,000 grey scales with freely-selectable frame rates from 1 to 30 fps, allowing for precise imaging of low-contrast, low-density as well as high-contrast, high density structures and materials at the same time. Powered by the user-friendly FEINFOCUS Graphical User Interface (FGUI), HDX-ray represents the next generation of inspection analysis tools required by today's demanding manufacturing processes. HDX-ray is available on all FOX systems, or as an upgrade to existing systems.

The award-winning FOX series of X-ray inspection systems from FEINFOCUS was the first nanofocus X-ray inspection system in the industry, providing XY feature recognition of 300nm (0.3 µm) and the smallest focal spot size in the industry (less than 1 µm). The series employs a modular concept, and is available in multiple configurations, offering everything from a multi-focus tube to enhanced sample capacity to 2D/3D X-ray inspection with computed tomography. The result is an extremely versatile system with both highly accurate measurement and high speed sample repositioning. The geometric magnification is up to 2,720x (total magnification up to 8,120x).

COMET is a successful technology company in the area of x-ray, high voltage and high vacuum technology. With their products (components, modules and systems) and services, COMET holds a leading position in the growth markets non-destructive testing, quality control of industrial components and electronics, security checks in public spaces and job safety. COMET's vacuum capacitors are vital components in the majority of all short, medium and long wave broadcasting stations as well as in plasma coating and etching equipment for the semiconductor and flat panel industries. From the headquarters in Switzerland, the products and services are marketed through their own subsidiaries in France, the U.S. and China; production takes place in Switzerland and Germany. In 2004, COMET realized sales of 80.7 million CHF with 339 employees. The shares of COMET (COTN) are listed on the SWX Swiss Exchange.
