X-Ray Inspection System has digital imaging capability.

Press Release Summary:

Programmable FOX series has integrated, 16-bit Direct Digital Detector (DDD) imaging subsystem that captures high-resolution images with film-like quality in real-time. DDD features X-ray detector with 3 image acquisition modes, automatic noise level reduction, and flat panel monitor. Operators can switch between acquisition settings, achieving image sizes of up to 1,888 x 1,408 pixels. Digital images can be saved in JPG, TIF, or BMP formats.

New X-ray Inspection System With Digital Imaging Capability

Stamford, Connecticut - FEINFOCUS introduces new Direct Digital Detector (DDD) imaging for the company's popular FOX series. The fully integrated 16-bit imaging subsystem provides brilliant digital images with extremely high contrast. The system instantaneously captures high-resolution images with film-like quality, even in real-time. This allows viewing of the slightest grey scale differences for enhanced defect detection in even the lowest kV applications.

The DDD features an X-ray detector with three image acquisition modes for maximum flexibility, automatic noise level reduction for sharp image quality, and a large, ultra-high resolution flat panel monitor for viewing flexibility. Operators can quickly and easily switch between the acquisition settings with a simple click of the mouse button, achieving image sizes of up to 1,888 x 1,408 pixels.

The fully programmable system is seamlessly integrated into FEINFOCUS Graphical User Interface (FGUI) version 2.2, allowing users to save digital images in JPG, TIF, or BMP formats. The new FGUI features AVI recording and playback features, and additional image processing operators such as an electronic film operator for advanced real-time X-ray inspection.

The award-winning FOX system was the first nanofocus X-ray inspection system in the industry, providing XY feature recognition of 300 nm (0.3 µm), geometric magnification up to 2400x, and the smallest focal spot size in the industry (less than 1 µm). This precision is combined with a standard 5-axis manipulator with extremely precise measurement and high speed sample repositioning. A 6th (ZD) axis is optional for detector movement. FEINFOCUS' proprietary True X-ray Intensity (TXI) control provides 100% consistent X-ray images by automatically controlling the output level of X-ray intensity during the image acquisition process.

The DDD subsystem is an upgrade opportunity to existing X-ray imaging chains, and can be integrated into various systems and any X-ray tube assembly.

FEINFOCUS, an ISO-certified company, is an award-winning global leader in high-resolution X-ray inspection systems and tubes. Pioneers of microfocus and nanofocus X-ray inspection technology, the company developed the first patented "open" X-ray tube. FEINFOCUS offers both X-ray sources and radiation-shielded X-ray equipment, as well as full in-house services, such as failure analysis services, component defect detection services, technical service, and preventative maintenance for both FEINFOCUS and third-party systems.

FEINFOCUS was founded in 1982, and is headquartered in Garbsen, Germany. In the Americas, the company maintains headquarters in Stamford, CT and a Technical Resource Center in San Jose, CA.
