World's Largest Fiberglass Umbrella Introduced by small Florida manufacturer.

Oldsmar, FL - STM Industries announced today the introduction of an eight-feet diameter solid fiberglass umbrella, a sister product to its line of six-feet in diameter umbrellas. As part of its "twenty-fifth year in business celebration," STM Industries decided to "do something big" said Junior Colon, shop supervisor. After having made tens of thousands of solid fiberglass umbrellas seen at locations as varied as University of California, Long Beach, Checker's, McDonald s and Burger King restaurants or John Wayne International Airport and Winter Haven Hospital, the company wanted to make an unusual statement. Given that over-the-road trucks can only accommodate load heights of 102", "an eight foot umbrella plus pallet was as large as we could go," stated company president Falco Witkamp.

The new umbrella style is an enlarged version of the durable Starburst model; a model that has withstood Santa Ana winds and Florida summer squalls without having to be folded down with the approach of bad weather. These umbrellas come in over one hundred colors and with a fifty mile per hour wind guarantee. "We make them strong so we don't end up with erroneous press reports of flying saucers,'' said one of the employees. "Weighing some forty pounds, it is important that they stay put, regardless of the weather or wind conditions," he continued. "Besides, a restaurant operator or school administrator doesn't want to run outside every time the weather turns bad..that's when you least want to go outside." As the company also makes theme park log flume rides and amphibious aircraft hulls, they have solid experience in making things that endure rugged conditions and provide long-standing value.
