Pentalift Equipment Announces Development of Variable Height Work Platform for Use in Automotive Assembly Paint Lines

June 2002 - Designed and engineered for use on state-of-the-art automotive paint lines, Pentalift Equipment Corporation, Buffalo, NY announces a unique, variable height work platform which enables the ergonomically-correct positioning of workers.

According to the manufacturer, operators of different heights, performing inspection, touch-up and quality control jobs on the automated painting line for automotive vans, can now raise and lower themselves into the most ergonomically-correct working position.

The work platforms, using a tandem scissor design which provides a 60" vertical travel, feature a slip-resistant perforated metal deck measuring 91" x 240". The platform has a rated lifting capacity of 6,000 lbs., allowing safe, easy raising and lowering of a worker along with necessary inspection and touch-up equipment/tools. Removable guard rails provide worker safety on the three non-working sides of each platform.

The electrical control panel includes a fused power transformer and, for operator safety, a velocity fuse to protect against free fall.

The new lift tables also features Pentalift's exclusive PentaFlow Hydraulic Cylinder, designed to ensure long cylinder life and reduce maintenance. The PentaFlow cylinder is completely sealed and all components are continuously lubricated with fresh oil, eliminating cylinder contamination, deterioration and dead-ending as well as high-stress build-up in the cylinder, equipment structure and hydraulic system.
