Wireless Solution supports GE and TDM wayside traffic.

Press Release Summary:

Eclipse(TM) IDU GE 20x provides flexible transport of Ethernet and TDM traffic and migration path to all-IP networking. It enables high-speed wireless links that support native Layer 2 GE and up to 20 E1 or DS1 wayside TDM channels. Layer 2 features support carrier Ethernet transport configurations such as Link Aggregation. IDU offers software-configurable throughput of up to 360 Mbps with channel bandwidths of 5-50 MHz for North America or 7-56 MHz for international markets.

Harris Stratex Networks Introduces New Eclipse Solution for Transport of Layer 2 Ethernet and TDM Data

New indoor unit supports Gigabit Ethernet plus TDM wayside traffic in a cost- effective package

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., June 12 /- Harris Stratex Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:HSTX), the leading independent supplier of turnkey wireless network solutions, today announced a new Eclipse(TM) indoor unit that provides flexible, cost-efficient transport of Ethernet and TDM traffic and a migration path to all-IP networking. The new unit enables simplified high-speed wireless links that support both native Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet and up to 20 E1 or DS1 wayside TDM channels. Market-leading Layer 2 features support carrier Ethernet transport configurations, such as Link Aggregation and Resilient Wireless Packet Ring (RWPR(TM)).

The new release consists of a compact, non-modular indoor unit (IDU) called the IDU GE 20x. Installed in a single rack unit, the new IDU supports software-configurable throughput of up to 360 Mbps, with channel bandwidths from 5 to 50 MHz for North America or 7 to 56 MHz for international markets. Available bandwidth can be incrementally allocated to Ethernet data -- with or without up to 20xE1/DS1 wayside channels. Both Ethernet and TDM traffic are transported natively, without any encapsulation or adaptation, for best possible performance for all types of voice, video and data applications. The IDU GE 20x will begin shipping in early fall 2007.

The IDU GE 20x is fully compatible with Eclipse Intelligent Node Units (INUs) for deployment at the edge of the network, where support for multiple radio paths is not required. This further enhances the ability of operators to deploy E1/DS1 TDM connections today, and then gracefully migrate their wireless backhaul network to support all-IP infrastructure in the future. The IDU GE 20x is compatible with the full line of existing Eclipse ODU300 outdoor units.

"This new unit enhances our ability to offer our customers cost-effective link and network-edge solutions for high-speed Ethernet plus TDM traffic," said John Koenig, vice president, Product Line Management at Harris Stratex Networks. "The IDU GE 20x includes all the pioneering carrier-class features that Harris Stratex Networks has introduced for wireless data transport."

The IDU supports one SFP optical interface and two electrical 10/100/1000baseT Ethernet interfaces. An embedded Layer 2 Ethernet switch provides advanced QoS and traffic management features such as 802.1p and DiffServ support, 802.3x flow control and 802.1q VLAN support. The IDU also offers remotely monitored transmission statistics to enable advanced troubleshooting and packet network optimization. Link configurations are also supported, including hot standby equipment protection and space diversity.

Harris Stratex Networks will be displaying the new Eclipse IDU GE 20x wireless transport solution at CommunicAsia 2007 in Singapore on June 19-22 in Hall 4 Booth 4H2-01.
