Read Pressures Wirelessly Anytime/Anywhere

CINCINNATI, Ohio, – The new CirrusSense™ wireless router provides a gateway for remote pressure readings, diagnostics, and immediate email/text alarm alerts transmitted by CirrusSense™ pressure transducers. Introduced and demonstrated in booth 1682 at AHR 2016 by its maker, Transducers Direct, the new wireless router provides internet connectivity for Bluetooth-enabled CirrusSense pressure sensors attached to refrigerant, oil and water lines. Unique in the industry, the breakthrough technology provides worldwide remote access to pressure readings to ensure that monitored systems are fully functional and capable. U.S.-made CirrusSense technology is an industry first for improving business efficiency, service planning and eliminating unneeded service calls.

The Bluetooth-capable CirrusSense™ sensor attaches to pressurized lines via a simple T fitting. It uses patent-pending circuitry to provide long battery life in permanent installations, with redundant sensing capability and self-monitoring of its own condition. Its free mobile app ("T-Direct TDWLB" for Apple or Android devices) lets the user name each sensor one time securely, set the scaling for the application, program setpoints/alarms for multiple sensors and monitor readings. The app also automatically calculates superheat and sub-cooling readouts.

The CirrusSense sensor is available in two different compensated accuracies of 1 percent and 0.25 percent, with an external temperature sensing probe as an option for superheat measurement. The pressure of any fluid can be monitored from vacuum to 10,000 psi.

"Service techs have told us this will save them and their customers time and money by preventing equipment damage, food spoilage, unneeded service calls, downtime and premature refills," said Mark McDaniel, Sales Director of Transducers Direct. "Technicians can read refrigerant pressures remotely, without manifold gauges or refrigerant blowback. Facility managers, restaurant owners and service techs can receive text and email messages the instant an alarm level is reached to help avoid compressor damage and product loss. The sensors can be used as a diagnostic tool or in permanent installations. Homeowners can monitor their own A/C refrigerants, water or swimming pool lines, with instant notification of failures."

The US-made CirrusSense™ sensor is all digital, eliminating mechanical components, wear parts, analog circuitry and setpoint drift. Unique in design, it uses a one-piece, precision-machined stainless steel diaphragm and header. This provides ten times the life of a conventional diaphragm and eliminates all springs, pushrods, micro switches and O-rings. All wetted parts are stainless steel.

The CirrusSense™ sensor's proprietary design includes many industry firsts. It senses pressure by using a time-to-digital converter (TDC) to measure the duration of a capacitive discharge in picoseconds across the changing resistance in a Wheatstone bridge atop the diaphragm. Clever circuitry creates a redundant signal that ensures continuous machinery operation if one half should fail.

The CirrusSense™ sensor is EMI/RFI protected and sealed to IP-65 rating. Standard overpressure rating is 2X, with 4X optional. Burst pressure is 5X or 20,000 psi, whichever is less. The sensor is available with a variety of industry standard pressure-port connections. Replacement battery packs are available from Transducers Direct.
