Raymarine Introduces the SmartPilot S1000 to Ensure Enhanced Piloting Experience

Leader in Autopilot Technology Now Offers New Wireless Controlled Autopilot for Hydraulic Power Boats Up to 25 Feet

NASHUA, N.H., Feb. 17 -- Raymarine, the world leader in marine electronics, today announced that it has taken the next step in autopilot evolution with the introduction of the SmartPilot S1000. Controlled by a rugged, simple-to-use wireless remote, the S1000 is the perfect fit for anglers with hydraulic power boats up to 25 feet.

Raymarine autopilots are known around the world for reliable performance under every kind of sea condition. Now owners of hydraulic powerboats up to 25 feet with SeaStar-type outboard hydraulic steering can benefit from Raymarine's industry-leading autopilot technology. Key features of the SmartPilot S1000 include wireless control, NMEA or SeaTalk input for GPS guidance, dedicated fishing patterns and the ability to troll at lower speeds.

With minimal wiring and no complicated compass or rudder reference, everything that is needed for installing the autopilot, including all the hydraulic interconnections, comes in one box. Fewer components and less wiring will allow for the autopilot to be installed and running in record time -- approximately 5 hours.

"Having an autopilot on board is great support for any captain," says Terry Carlson, President of Raymarine. "With Raymarine's S1000, the captain can set a course or trolling pattern and then attend to other details such as working lines and preparing baits while keeping an eye on the course he has set."

Using the remote control, anglers can select to steer in a straight line or to a waypoint. Alternatively, they can choose from four programmed fishing or trolling patterns -- spiral, circle, zigzag or cloverleaf -- applicable to fresh water or saltwater fishing alike. The boat operator can select any of these functions from anywhere on the boat. If the remote control moves beyond the range of the boat or is lost overboard, the S1000 automatically drops into standby mode.

The S1000 has many of the features found on higher-end autopilots. The tool offers Raymarine's latest SmartSteer programming that has the ability to provide an intelligent rate of turn relative to boat speed, meaning that the captain can confidently spend time away from the helm without worrying about sudden course changes. For example, while trolling, the autopilot can follow a straighter course for better fuel economy and can execute controlled turns. In addition, the wireless remote control has an oversized bold display that shows up to two lines of text and graphics, along with a Standby button with a raised profile that allow the user to locate it easily in the dark. The remote accepts standard AAA or rechargeable batteries and has a signal strength indicator.
