WindSpring Announces Strategic Collaboration with Tele Atlas

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 12 / -- CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment -- WindSpring, Inc., a data miniaturization innovator, announced today it will collaborate with geographic content leader Tele Atlas to jointly market WindSpring's Data Miniaturization Technology (DMT)(TM). Through this relationship Tele Atlas' partners will gain access to WindSpring technologies, helping to quickly increase the capabilities of map-based applications without increasing device storage requirements or hardware costs.

WindSpring's patented, award-winning DMT transforms large map and point- of-interest data files into its proprietary Micro Data Format (MDF)(TM). As a full read and write run-time format, map and data files in MDF retain all original data performance attributes, including editing and updating, making the miniaturized format ideal for space-constrained mobile devices such as personal navigation systems, mobile phones and smartphones.

"The future growth of navigation applications depends on the ability to deliver richly detailed information on high-performance, low-cost devices," said Jay Benson, Tele Atlas Vice President of Business Planning. "WindSpring's unique technology enables our partners worldwide to deliver increasingly detailed map-based applications on devices that give consumers access to compelling geographic content in a single download."

"Tele Atlas has demonstrated market leadership and innovation in the development of geographic content on a global scale," said Robert F. Mitro, WindSpring Chairman and CEO. "Through this collaboration, mobile consumers will gain even faster access to rich location-based services (LBS), and a more rewarding experience as they search for a wide range of places and services on the go."

Tele Atlas and WindSpring will demonstrate DMT applications at CTIA Wireless IT and Entertainment 2006 in Los Angeles, CA, September 12-14 in booth number 235.

About WindSpring
Headquartered in San Jose, California, WindSpring's new, patented Data Miniaturization Technology (DMT) reduces the data footprint of large data files using a Micro Data Format (MDF) that enables the high-speed seek, search, edit and display of application data while stored in a loss-less miniaturized state. WindSpring products are ideal for space-constrained devices such as Personal Navigation Devices (PNDs), PDAs, mobile phones and Smartphones with internal memory limitations, used with Digital Mapping, Wireless and Mobile applications such as GPS navigation and remote computing, where large volumes of data often slow system performance and communications.
