Wilton Re Services, Inc Standardizes on Tidal Enterprise Scheduler to Automate Both Vital IT and End-to-End Business Processes

Tidal Solution to also Provide Tighter Controls, Detailed Operational Tracking and Reporting for Simplified Compliance

PALO ALTO, Calif., June 03, 2008 - Tidal Software, a leading provider of application scheduling and performance management software, today announced that Wilton Re Services, Inc is standardizing on Tidal Enterprise Scheduler. Wilton Re identified Tidal's solution as vital to the process of aligning IT with the business because it can automatically drive every step of each process from start to finish. The solution will provide a complete enterprise view of business process performance as well as automate the many IT processes necessary for the company to better leverage virtualization. Finally, this higher level of automation and detailed tracking will make it easier to support compliance.

Wilton Re was formed to fill a growing need in the life reinsurance market. With the continued consolidation that has taken place over the last few years, the life reinsurance landscape has changed significantly. A key ingredient to Wilton Re's strategy was the imperative to focus its resources and energy on the core business. Wilton Re's IT team concentrated on developing and improving business processes while cost-effectively outsourcing many functions. That allowed IT experts to partner with business users to establish processes that are continually supporting the key business objectives.

"Our passion for Tidal is about utilizing our entire infrastructure day and night and ensuring that our business processes run on schedule, end to end, and in a controlled fashion," said Andy Wood, Wilton Re's chief information officer. "Nearly all of our servers are virtualized, and we utilize our platform twenty four hours a day. During the day, we have a different footprint than at night. At night we handle all data processing, but in the morning, we change that whole footprint and close down VM servers that are not needed for supporting daytime user activities. Tidal can automate the IT processes that conduct this daily switchover. So not only does it automate business processes, but it also manages IT processes in a similar fashion. That is extremely valuable to us because it helps us move towards a truly automated, nearly frictionless data center."

Wilton Re's internal and outsourced IT environment is tightly streamlined with standards in place for foundational technologies such as databases, operating environments and systems. Without Tidal's solution, processes did appear to be automated to end users because they were setup very neatly and executed smoothly. However, behind the scenes there was still a lot of scripting required and too much human involvement in the processing flow. Tidal's automation not only solves that problem, but also automates the manual effort required to switch from night to day footprints.

"Tidal will reduce our cost significantly because it enables end to end process automation," said Wood. "A bonus is that it helps us instate finer controls because we can provide access to systems and data to just a few key staff members. We evaluated several products and discovered that Tidal Enterprise Scheduler was a clear choice because it is the easiest to use and has full enterprise functionality with the broadest coverage."

Tidal's enterprise scheduler drives efficiency by centralizing control over job processing schedules to one point of management, automatically driving and tracking the processes, then moving them through each step from end to end. By applying a single enterprise job scheduling solution, Wilton Re can closely monitor all steps in a schedule, automatically detect problems, and recover quickly. No matter what applications Wilton Re brings online in the future, Tidal's enterprise scheduler can support it. Also, Wilton Re's IT staff can manage and control all of the enterprise schedules enabling the operation to grow with the business without having to quickly grow the IT operations staff as well.

"We are confident that our solution can help Wilton Re achieve their operational goals," said Thomas Hooker, vice president of marketing at Tidal Software. "Tidal products bring unprecedented levels of automation to the data center, and they also provide the visibility and control needed not only for daily operations but also for such regulatory compliance. Ultimately our solutions help remove the obstacles to achieving better IT alignment with the business."
