Welding Rods replace air-carbon-arc processes.

Press Release Summary:

Using solid carbon inner fuel recipe, MAGarc(TM) rods are combusted using bottled oxygen passing through lightweight torch handle; resulting flame melts through thick-plate and non-ferrous materials. Metallic jacket encapsulates carbon rods, focusing oxygen at terminal end where arc is present. Products generate ~60 dB of sound and do not need air compressor. Rods, ½ in. in diameter, burn through 1 ft of 1½ in. plate in as little as 20 sec.

Magnum's New MAGarc(TM) Technology is a Remarkable Replacement for Air-Carbon-Arc Processes

Magnum's new MAGarc(TM) technology is a remarkable replacement for air-carbon-arc processes. The new rods use a solid carbon inner fuel recipe which is efficiently combusted using bottled oxygen passing through a lightweight torch handle.

The resulting flame can easily melt through thick plate and nonferrous materials much faster than traditional air-carbon-arc. The differences are even more elaborate. The new MAGarc(TM) rods are quiet, generating approximately 60 decibels of sound in contrast to traditional air-carbon-arc which is measured around 120 decibels which is deafening. The secret to the new MAGarc(TM) rods involves a metallic jacket which encapsulates the carbon rods. The metallic jacket also serves to focus the oxygen where it is needed. Therefore, rather than push high pressure down the outside length of a live electrode, the new MAGarc(TM) rods deliver pure oxygen where it is needed, at the terminal end where the arc is present. Other benefits include no need for an air compressor. Moreover, the new MAGarc(TM) rods require much less power to drive the arc. Initial tests for patenting purposes showed a MAGarc(TM) rod ½" in diameter burning through a linear foot of 1 ½" plate in as little as 20 seconds. The test consumed only ¼" of the rod which is very economical. A lightweight torch serves to hold the new rods in addition to controlling the oxygen pressure. The process is so quiet it has recently been approved as a replacement for air-carbon-arc by M.S.H.A., the federal arm of the government for mining safety and regulation. MAGarc(TM) rods come 30 to a box and are manufactured in Phelan, California. Additional information can be viewed at the manufacturer's website located at www.magnumusa.com.
