New Network-Compatible Indicator/Controller Offers Weight Display and Process Control

Fairmont, MN-March 25, 2003-Avery Weigh-Tronix, Inc. has introduced the Model 1310 Indicator/Controller, a flexible weighing and process control solution designed to integrate seamlessly into all major industrial networks. With the Model 1310 online, users are able to control and monitor any weight-based process, display chosen critical aspects of the operational status in graphics or text, and isolate potential problems in downstream devices such as scales, sensors and control devices.

The Model 1310 meshes perfectly with industry-specific standards and operational requirements, supporting all major fieldbus protocols including DeviceNet(TM), ProfiBus®, ControlNet(TM), InterBus, ModBus Plus, plus non-proprietary protocols through a 10/100 Ethernet network such as ModBus TCP, TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP, FTP and Ethernet/IP. At its most basic, it can function as a full-featured legal-for-trade weight indicator. With options, The Model 1310 can simultaneously monitor as many as eight independent scales communicate with PLCs or directly control up to 64 OPTO 22 devices in a networked process control environment. Programmable function keys facilitate one-touch activation of complex application-specific routines.

The Model 1310 indicator/controller was developed with broad flexibility in mind, with the ability to flow reliably from one application to the next and from one communication environment to another. "The power, flexibility and speed of the Model 1310 can bridge existing technologies with the most forward thinking ideas in weight measurement and process management," said Don Halbert, Avery Weigh-Tronix product manager. "Each Model 1310 is custom programmed to the unique application requirements of each customer. We feel that no other indicator has gone farther to make full automation or weight-based systems a practical reality."

With over 4 million possible display configurations, users can decide what information is to be displayed, and with what emphasis. The large, illuminated dot matrix screen can provide graphics and text simultaneously in up to 1.16" high digits, with arch, pie, bar charts, or tachometer-style gauges displaying your choice of graphic and numeric percentages, messages or weights. The Model 1310 also features an array of diagnostic and error reporting capabilities that offers comprehensive monitoring of all connected scales, sensors and control devices, as well as its own internal systems.
