o Control solutions,

o MPEG-4/h.264 solutions; both HD and SD,

o Retail and enterprise environments,

o Radio Broadcasting,

o TV Broadcasting.

Control Solutions

WEGENER's COMPEL network control system is deployed throughout the world to manage targeted content delivery, disaster recovery and blackout/embargo enforcement for multi-site networks. In Compel-enabled TV, radio, sporting, multi-language and retail networks, operators have enhanced control of receive devices at affiliate locations which enables them to regionalize content and ad-insertions. WEGENER expands opportunities to deliver media to affiliates through file distribution, terrestrial connections and VSAT network support.

MPEG-4/h.264 Solutions

WEGENER's solutions offer opportunities to transition live video broadcasts from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4/h.264 video compression. WEGENER's new Unity 550-2 media receivers, SMD 515 IPTV set tops and Compel network control system support both video compression standards for pilot programs, edge networks and full network conversions. Additionally, the Unity 550-2 supports DVB-S2 modulation. Combining MPEG-4/h.264 video compression and DVB-S2 modulation increases signal compression by 40-70% enabling cost effective high definition (HD) video service launches. Both the Unity 550-2 media receiver and SMD 515 IPTV set top support HD video.

Retail/Enterprise Environments

WEGENER offers robust solutions for dynamic retail and enterprise environments. COMPEL® Network Control is currently used to manage over 150 million regional ad-insertions per month to devices in broadcast, sporting and retail networks. The solution combines ad-insertion functionality, file-based store/forward distribution and on-screen graphics to offer high quality, 24/7, networked digital signage operations.

Additionally, solutions integrate employee training programs with on- demand access and multi-language broadcasts. Operators can seamlessly manage satellite, internet and local area networks to offer employees more opportunities to rapidly access low and high resolutions video, text and metadata information.

Radio Broadcasting

WEGENER's audio distribution equipment opens new revenue streams for radio broadcasters by maximizing the operational control of live and stored audio broadcasts. The Unity 4600 satellite receiver provides live audio support and the option to integrate video broadcasts. Operators can deploy the iPump 6420 Media Server within a Unity receiver network to launch file-based distribution of repetitive or regional content. The iPump 6420 can seamlessly blend live and stored audio content through the use of audio fades, mixes and pre- positioned station liners.

Broadcast TV

With WEGENER's solution, news broadcasters can maintain control of live news broadcasts while delivering the latest news clips and scripts directly to affiliate desktops. WEGENER utilizes COMPEL® to power end-to-end media asset and targeted distribution over satellite to support broadcast TV affiliate news operations.

Broadcasters can explore options for TV ratings with WEGENER and Nielsen Media Research. WEGENER offers the NAVE IIc encoder for insertion of Nielsen codes for tracking of DTV (digital television) programming. WEGENER also offers the SpoTTrac encoder for insertion of Nielsen codes to track advertisements.
