Web Tension Transducer handles narrow webs or filaments.

Press Release Summary:

VNW Very Narrow Web tension transducer measures process tension in narrow web or ribbon (up to 6 in. wide) or filament. It can be installed on process machinery for unwind/payoff, rewind/take-up or intermediate zone applications. Tension is measured by high-output silicon strain gages housed internally on dual cantilevered transducer beam. Six different mounting styles are offered to accommodate space constraints and various machine frames.

Original Press Release:

Versatile VNW (Very Narrow Web) Tension Transducer

(ROCHESTER, NH, USA--November 27, 2001) The new VNW (Very Narrow Web) transducer from Dover Flexo Electronics (DFE) is a compact tension-sensing device for measuring process tension in narrow web or ribbon (up to six inches wide) or filament.

Employing a design that combines the robust beam housing of DFE's popular shaft-end transducers with a choice of mounting styles and wheel options from RFA-style cantilevered transducers, DFE has developed a versatile new cantilever-mount tension transducer. The functional advantage of the new VNW device over other cantilevered transducers is that the shaft insertion depth can be adjusted (+/- 0.25 inch) for easier alignment of the wheel with the web. The company offers the transducer for a highly competitive base price.

The VNW can be installed on process machinery for unwind/ payoff, rewind/ take-up, or intermediate zone applications. Tension is measured by high-output silicon strain gages housed internally on a dual cantilevered transducer beam. The transducer output signal is amplified by a DFE indicator or automatic controller for tension measurement or complete closed-loop tension control.

To accommodate space constraints and a variety of machine frame conditions six different mounting styles are offered. All ribbon and filament wheels are optional accessories. The wheels are shaft-mounted with the shaft inserted into the transducer's face coupling and secured by set screws. Pictured is the VNW transducer with piloted flange mount and 6-inch width ribbon wheel.
