MicroMain's Web Maintenance Module Now with Mobile, Cross-Browser Compatibility

xmWEB v6.1 Also Offers New Email Notification, Security, Expanded Features

(October 21, 2004) AUSTIN, TX - MicroMain Corporation, a leading provider of asset and facility management software and services, today announced general availability of xmWEB(TM) v6.1, an upgrade first introduced at MicroMain's sold-out Users Conference this month. Used with MicroMain XM(TM)-MicroMain's flagship computerized maintenance management (CMMS)/enterprise asset management (EAM) system-the xmWEB module allows users to submit maintenance work requests and check work status via the Internet.

The upgraded xmWEB module, built on the Microsoft® .NET Framework using ASP.NET technologies, provides cross-browser functionality. New compatibility with mobile browsers also enables users to submit work requests using their web-enabled handheld devices.

With xmWEB v6.1, users can now send email notifications to designated recipients as well as work requests to the maintenance department. New pre-defined service records are also available as drop-down choices, allowing users to quickly select typical work request services; users also have the option to enter their own maintenance service request. In addition, users can take advantage of expanded viewing and printing options, including work request details.

Administrators for xmWEB can now limit assets to specific types-area, equipment, or vehicle-to streamline maintenance workflow management. They can also secure sensitive information by utilizing new xmWEB encryption options.

When a user submits a work request with xmWEB, an email notification is sent to a predetermined user and a new work order is automatically created using MicroMain XM. These work orders are then assigned or issued to maintenance personnel according to the organization's procedures. Users are able to check on the status of their requested work at any time with xmWEB. After selecting criteria such as property or asset, users can view a list of their selected work requests, including status of work. Detailed information, such as priority assigned or due date, can also be viewed for each work request.

xmWEB is often used by MicroMain customers in a service desk setting, where tenants, employees, or contractors phone in or email work requests to staff at a help desk or front desk; the staff then submit accepted requests to the maintenance department. The module is also frequently used in a user-direct environment. This includes faculty or students in multi-campus facilities, healthcare workers in hospital complexes, retail chain managers, office professionals, and other individuals who submit work requests directly to a centralized maintenance department.

"xmWEB is one of our most requested modules in the MicroMain XM suite," said Joe Brummer, Vice President of Marketing with MicroMain. "This new version makes it even easier for users to submit requests and for administrators to manage the system, including controlling access to sensitive information. xmWEB's cross-browser and mobile browser functionality also meets a market need emerging with new web technologies."
