New Web-Enabled Product for Trending and Managing Production Line Data

FIN Report Server Gives Access to Vital Production Information over the Internet

CHICAGO, March 7, 2005 - Factory Intelligence Network (FIN), LLC announces the launch of its newest factory intelligence solution, the FIN Report Server. In tandem with FIN 3.8, this web-enabled module provides access to real-time reports and allows users to view information captured from new and legacy production lines - facilitating quick and accurate reviews of vital process parameters.

With the FIN Report Server, production reports created via the FEN 3.8 system can be set to execute automatically, and can be viewed on a secure web page, stored on the FIN server. By viewing executed reports online, plant personnel and managers can identify trends, diagnose production line issues, and monitor and document operator activity from remote locations. They can also establish and modify report schedules, display manufacturing and operations data, store production line information indefinitely, and transfer reports and data directly into Microsoft® Excel for future analysis.

"This product moves data collection to a new level," said Ron Iannacone, president of FIN. "First, we gave plant management a way to monitor production lines without the legwork, and without having to manually read imprecise, vague gauges. Now, with the FIN Report Server, we've freed them even further because they no longer need to constantly be on-site. Key personnel can have 24/7 access to the information they need from wherever they are."

One of the key added features in FIN version 3.8 is the ability for users, when trending, to add notes directly into the FIN system's graphical-report trend screens. These notes can then be saved, along with the historical data, to document a particular occurrence or anomaly. Documenting specific trend events in this way allows for a clearer understanding of trends, and avoids duplicate data analyses. It also facilitates the identification of deviations and fault conditions - allowing preventive measures to be put in place, thus minimizing downtime.

As with all Factory Intelligence Network products, the data viewed can be collected from all types of manufacturing equipment, including those without PLCs, those with older PLCs lacking data collection capabilities, and PLC-enabled equipment and control systems.
