Wheels, Inc. Introduces Paperless Office

Teams with Nationwide Insurance Fleet to Innovate New Online Capabilities

DES PLAINES, Ill., Feb. 27 -- Wheels, Inc. a leader in the multi-billion-dollar fleet-leasing industry, and Nationwide Insurance Fleet today unveiled the Paperless Office, a technology initiative that transforms the concept of the fully virtual fleet office into reality.

The Paperless Office is a comprehensive family of Web-based capabilities that enable all fleet-related information and transactions to be accessed or conducted online. Developed by Wheels in a close working partnership with long-standing client Nationwide Insurance, it is the first initiative of this type in the fleet industry.

"Wheels is committed to leveraging technology to enable ongoing innovation in the services we provide," said Steven Loos, Wheels Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. "The Paperless Office is an example of how this level of innovation translates into client deliverables."

Over the last few years, Wheels has made ongoing enhancements to its client systems with a special focus on expanding online capabilities to support a wide range of requirements including driver ordering, invoice processing and payment, collision information, resale condition reports, and truck engineering specifications, among others. The continuing development of these enhancements, which are accessible on an opt-in basis to every client using Wheels FleetView(R) online fleet management tool, has been the foundation of the Paperless Office.

Gail Watson, fleet manager for Nationwide Insurance, worked closely with Wheels to identify the full scope of data needs and transactions to move the entire fleet office online. She partnered in the development and testing of the Paperless Office program, which culminated with the introduction of the final online components this week. These include alerts on changes in the vehicle costs, detail on those extra options that drivers choose to buy for their vehicles, and odometer disclosures.

"The idea for the Paperless Office was simple in concept and challenging in execution," said Watson. "We recognized that today the person managing fleet is often on the move and needs to be able to make key decisions or transact business from wherever they are. By drastically reducing the fleet office's reliance on paper, we are not only creating the complete flexibility to manage the fleet in a way that meets prevailing business needs; we are also taking steps to help conserve our natural resources."
