Appleton Offers New Watertight Hubs for Hazardous Locations

SKOKIE, IL, April 15, 2003 - When an environment is too hazardous, too wet or otherwise too quality-sensitive to use a standard hub to connect conduit, Appleton has a new line of watertight hubs to do the job.

Appleton Watertight Hubs connect rigid conduit or IMC to threadless openings in an electrical enclosure.

Designed for use indoors or outdoors, they meet NEC requirements for hazardous locations (Class I, Div. 2; Class II, Div. 1 & 2; Class III) such as chemical and petrochemical plants, refineries, pulp and paper processing plants, and other areas where flammable vapors, gases or combustible dusts are present.

Appleton Watertight Hubs feature a rugged, corrosion-resistant metallic construction to ensure mechanical protection, with a die cast design that offers clean lines and aesthetic appeal.

To prevent wire abrasion, the hubs have an insulated throat that is rated up to 105 degrees C. An integral O-ring provides a watertight seal (NEMA 4X), while smooth, accurately tapped threads yield easier insulation, a process that is further enhanced by the Hub's faster wrenching profile.

Appleton Watertight Hubs are available in sizes of 1/2-inch to 4-inch, and in a grounding version. In addition to standard gray, they are available in a chrome plate finish.
