Dow Corning Introduces Low-VOC Water Repellent
Dow Corning® IE-6694 Water Repellent Emulsion for Construction Materials
Midland, Mich. - November 1, 2006 - Dow Corning today introduced new Dow Corning® IE-6694 Water Repellent Emulsion, a penetrating, low-Volatile Organic Content (VOC) water repellent that meets the stringent California South Coast AQMD requirements, at the International Coatings Expo in New Orleans, Louisiana.
"This product maximizes building life, reduces maintenance and improves aesthetics for porous construction materials such as concrete, stone, brick and grout while reducing hazardous VOCs," said Jennifer Middleton, Dow Corning Building Materials Protection Marketing Manager. "By removing silicon hydride (SiH) from the formulation, this product eliminates the need for vented containers and mitigates shipping, storage and handling problems associated with volatile content."
Dow Corning IE-6694 Water Repellent Emulsion is a 60 percent active, water-dilutable solution featuring fast beading action and excellent water repellence to provide a flexible, environmentally responsible, cost-effective solution to water ingress.
Dow Corning IE-6694 Water Repellent Emulsion can be used to formulate water-based, water-repellent primers, paints and coatings for porous construction materials. It is often diluted with water for post-treatment application and incorporated into building materials as an admixture incorporated directly into concrete blocks, artificial stones and other building components during manufacture.
