Vyyo Announces Bentley Will Incorporate UltraBand Specs into Bentley Coax GIS Solution for RF Design

NORCROSS, Ga., June 21 / / - Vyyo Inc. (NASDAQ:VYYO), a supplier of broadband access equipment for cable system operators, announced today that it has entered into a cooperative relationship with Bentley Systems, Incorporated to streamline the implementation of the Vyyo UltraBand(TM) spectrum overlay platform for cable system operators.

Working in conjunction with Vyyo, Bentley will incorporate a library of specifications based on the UltraBand platform into its Bentley Communications/Bentley Coax Geospatial Information System (GIS) solution for RF design. The relationship will simplify the ability of cable system operators to design spectrum overlay solutions for the delivery of residential and business services by providing increased visibility into performance and cost data with no change in GIS software.

Vyyo and Bentley are demonstrating these tools in the Bentley booth (#2557) at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers' Cable-Tec Expo June 20-22 in Orlando, FL. A supporting demo and collateral is available in the Vyyo booth (#2764) at the show.

"Cable operators recognize that increased bandwidth will power new revenues from such advanced services as 100-channel HD lineups and 145 Mbps DOCSIS(R) 3.0 data speeds," said Wayne Davis, CEO of Vyyo. "Our work with Bentley will enable design teams to work from day one with all of the information they need to dramatically increase the upstream and downstream bandwidth of coaxial cable."

"The Vyyo UltraBand spectrum overlay platform enables cable system operators to capitalize on the substantial investment they have made in their HFC infrastructure," said Jeff Eichler, director of communications products for Bentley. "The incorporation of spectrum overlay specifications into our design tools adds another dimension to how Bentley is staying current and assuring our users access to the most up-to-date engineering solutions."

The Vyyo UltraBand platform is designed to allow cable companies to substantially increase bandwidth to fiber-like performance, leveraging their existing infrastructure and at a fraction of the cost (under $125 per home passed) to build new fiber networks. UltraBand leverages higher frequencies on the existing coaxial cable doubling downstream bandwidth and increasing upstream bandwidth by a factor of at least four. Using the UltraBand platform, cable system operators can create new bandwidth on a targeted basis for approximately 10% of the published cost per home of telco fiber builds, while maintaining their existing investment in their HFC networks and set-top boxes.

About Vyyo Inc.

Vyyo Inc., (NASDAQ:VYYO), a leading supplier of broadband access equipment, delivers to cable system operators a powerful, economic platform with fiber-like performance that extends their dominant bandwidth position over the competition and drives new revenues. Vyyo's spectrum overlay technology expands typical HFC (hybrid-fiber coax) network capacity in the "last mile," offering the only cost-effective solution that quadruples upstream and doubles downstream bandwidth to help operators deliver new, advanced residential and business services at a fraction of the cost of fiber deployments.
