Vought Aircraft and NCL

Increased power and more tool control

Newport Beach, California - May 29, 2007 - NCCS, the developer of NCL multi-axis machining software for the aerospace, automotive and turbomachinery industry, takes a leap forward with Vought Aircraft purchasing the latest release of NCL. Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc., located in Hawthorne, California recently purchased nine licenses of NCL multi-axis machining software from NCCS. At this particular location, the company fabricates and assembles fuselage panels for the Boeing 747, including the new 747-8, which will be able to carry up to 500 passengers. To help ensure quality and efficiency, the site turned to NCL for their solution.

Benefits of NCL

o Macro capability: NCL comes with a library of standard aerospace macros, as well as the flexibility to create your own. NCL's macro capability will give Vought a unique blend of automated and user controlled toolpath generation techniques that will produce quick results; cutting programming time and increasing quality.
o Family of parts capability: Vought will also benefit from NCL's family of parts capability. Using associativity, the part can be parametrically driven by a table of
variables. This is ideal for the company with their many part families and with applying engineering changes. This feature gives the programmer a quicker way to program similar parts such as large skins that make up the fuselage for the left and right side. Overall, this capability offers a time savings of up to 50 percent in the generation of toolpaths of skins.

According to David Schultz, NCCS' Manager of CAD/CAM Applications, "The key to successful manufacturing lies in its innovative software technology and how it is put to use. Our software has been enhanced to simplify the complexity of five-axis programming with flexibility and ease. Applying the macro and family of parts capability reduces programming time and improves overall accuracy with a more efficient process".
