Vortex Flowmeter provides alternative to piping changes.

Press Release Summary:

Reduced bore digitalYEWFLO incorporates reducing runs within unit, providing up to 2 meter-size step-downs and 2 pipe size reductions to be accommodated in one meter. Drop-in replacement meter is also available with 1 ½ or 2 in. bore to increase meter range. Reducer design is available in integral or remote configurations with flanged connections in line sizes from 1-12 in. Meter is available with BRAIN(TM), HART® and Fieldbus® communication protocols.

Yogogawa's digitalYEWFLO Vortex Flowmeter Now Available with Built-in Reducers

Newnan, Georgia - Yokogawa Corporation of America today introduced a version of its highly successful digitalYEWFLO vortex flowmeter that eliminates the need for costly sections of reducing runs commonly required when applying vortex flowmeters. These reducing sections are normally required to increase the velocity through the meter for more stable, accurate measurements at low flows. Now these reductions are an integral part of the flowmeter.

The most significant feature of the reduced bore digitalYEWFLO is its ability to provide up to two meter-size step-downs. For example, many times a 1" or 1 ½" meter is the correct size for the flow going through a 2" line. In the past the user had to make significant piping changes to install that 1" meter. Now this can be accomplished by installing a 2" reduced bore digitalYEWFLO with a 1" bore and built in reducers. This means two pipe size reductions can be accommodated in one meter. Should the process conditions change requiring a larger meter, a drop-in replacement meter is available with either a 1 ½" or 2" bore to increase the meter range. For new plant startups, where the flow rates are normally low because piping is sized for planned future production, the new reduced bore digitalYEWFLO is the solution to costly piping changes. A smaller bore meter is installed at startup and the customer is assured that when flow rates increase, a new meter with the same face to face dimensions can be installed, again without any costly piping changes.

Utilizing the same field-proven sensor technology and unique signal processing technique of the basic digitalYEWFLO series of vortex flowmeters, the new reducer design is available in integral or remote configurations with flanged connections in line sizes from 1" to 12". The meter can be applied in liquid, gas and steam applications and is available with BRAIN(TM), HART® and Fieldbus® communication protocols.

For more than 40 years, Yokogawa has kept pace with evolving user needs with the continuous introduction of new products to answer modern challenges with the latest technology.
