Volcano Corporation Announces Launch of Touchpad IVUS Controller, ACC Presence

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif., March 26 -- Volcano Corporation (NASDAQ:VOLC) today outlined its new product focus at the 2007 ACC Conference in New Orleans, LA from March 24th to the 27th. Volcano will highlight the launch of the s5i Bedside Touchpad Controller, a launch update on Volcano's newest s5 family of IVUS consoles, the installation of Volcano IVUS cabling in all new US Innova cath labs with GE Healthcare, full market release of the 45 MHz Revolution(R) high frequency IVUS catheter, and live case broadcasts including these various technologies. These newly launched products will be on display as part of an expanded hands-on booth presence throughout ACC exhibition hours. Volcano's products are designed to add clarity to pre-intervention strategy and confidence in the post-intervention outcome, and to do so in a fast, simple manner that does not add unwarranted complexity or time to the procedure.

Scott Huennekens, President and CEO of Volcano commented, "Our successful launch of the s5 family of consoles clearly indicates that clinicians are more interested than ever in developing the appropriate interventional strategy prior to stenting, and then confirming proper stent placement before sending patients home. We are seeing our new IVUS consoles used as part of everyday PCI procedures, and also in diagnostic outpatient settings as a more comprehensive screening tool to help decide which patients warrant intervention, and which patients may benefit more from medical therapy and proper follow-up."

Launch of the s5i Bedside Touchpad Controller

In an effort to continue the successful launch of the s5i integrated IVUS system in the US and Europe, Volcano has announced full market release of the s5i Touchpad controller. This small, but fully functional, bedside touchpad allows physicians control of the Volcano IVUS system directly from the sterile field. Dr. Mike Foster of Providence Medical Center in Columbia, SC commented, "Interventionalists are very hands-on people, and like to feel they are in control of both the PCI workflow and patient outcomes. By using this new bedside controller, I can now quickly use IVUS to confirm proper stent expansion and apposition measurements myself, without leaving and then reentering the sterile field. Today with IVUS integration, my staff and I routinely perform IVUS measurements in less than two minutes."

Innova IVUS Pre-cabling initiative with GE Healthcare

In an effort to make integrated IVUS more accessible as part of state-of- the-art imaging labs, Volcano and GE have implemented the Innova IVUS pre-cabling initiative, whereby all newly built GE Innova cath labs in the US will be equipped with the necessary cabling to support Innova IVUS integration, should the hospital wish to purchase Innova IVUS from GE. This proactive placement strategy by GE will ensure that future Innova IVUS integration will be fast, simple and meet the customized user requirements as defined by the hospital.

Full Market Release of Revolution(R) 45 MHz IVUS Imaging Catheter

Volcano has also introduced the Revolution 45 MHz Rotational IVUS Imaging catheter to market, available on Volcano IVG systems. The Revolution catheter completes Volcano's full line of IVUS products, enabling physicians to choose which type of IVUS catheter to use based on individual preference. Volcano is the only company that offers both phased-array and rotational IVUS catheters.
