Bridging between fixed and wireless networks, a start-up company uses the power of VoIP to allow users to transfer calls between mobile phones and landlines.
Montreal, Quebec - June 4, 2007 -- Text2it today announced that it has started beta trials of a feature that allows subscribers to transfer calls to any landline or mobile phone. With this capability, users can initiate a call on their cell phone and transfer it to a landline when they reach their home or office.

Voice over IP (VoIP) has seen tremendous growth in recent years, with many business and residential users turning to services like those offered by Skype and Vonage to lower their communications costs. These services convert voice into IP packets that are carried over the Internet at much lower costs than traditional telephony circuits.
The adoption of VoIP in cellular telephony has been slower but with the consumer VoIP market estimated at $1.2 billion and over 230 million estimated wireless subscribers in the US alone, this is changing. Recent innovations like those from Text2it bring the cost savings and feature richness of VoIP calling to both landlines and cell phones without the need for a broadband connection or special phone adapters.
Text2it launched their "VoIP from Anywhere" service in April 2007, allowing users to make low cost long distance calls on any landline or mobile phone. Calls are dialed using a number of methods including sending an SMS message to the Text2it gateway or using a Web browser. This means the service can be used on any mobile phone or landline without needing to download or install any special software.
