Original Press Release:

eDevice Interactive Vocal Server Allows Users To Keep In Touch With A Range of Electronic Equipment

Chicago, March 21, 2005

Through the new eDevice Interactive Vocal Server (IVS), it is now possible to control a range of previously isolated pieces of equipment (heating thermostats, automated equipment controls, alarm systems, etc.) from fixed or mobile telephones. The flexibility of the IVS enables the user to personalize recorded greetings, interactive menus, and the interface with the piece of equipment connected to the system. It is available as an internal module that can be integrated directly into the electronics board or as an external device that can be connected via the serial port of the equipment.

Once the device has been installed on a piece of equipment, the IVS connects directly to a standard phone jack and automatically answers incoming calls. The server plays the voice messages stored in its memory, enabling the caller to perform a series of commands using his telephone's keypad.

The eDevice IVS may be used with a variety of devices/equipment, providing a universal control interface previously only available to call centers or with PBXs. For example, the device can be installed in or connected to a heating thermostat in a customer's home. Through use of the IVS, the customer can activate or deactivate the air conditioning, or change its temperature by following the voice menu instructions, usually entailing entering a user ID and issuing the menu command required. The IVS also allows users to send an email to a maintenance center if any anomalies are detected.

The compact size of the vocal server (66 x 28 x 15 mm) and its competitive pricing make it a unique offering.
