Accelerates Restore Times Up to 10 Times the Speed of Tape; Reduces Acquisition Costs by Up to 50 Percent
SOUTHBOROUGH, MA - Dec. 8, 2003 - SEPATON, Inc., the emerging leader in non-disruptive, high-performance data protection appliances, today announced the S2100 virtual tape library system.
The new offering, the first in SEPATON's family of data protection solutions, helps customers shrink backup windows and accelerate restore times at up to 10 times the speed of tape, while reducing acquisition cost by as much as 50 percent. The S2100 is a disk-based, virtual tape library that allows data center managers to dramatically improve backup and restore times with reliability and flexibility unavailable in tape based systems.
Utilizing SEPATON's unique Scalable Replication Engine (SRE(TM)) optimized for high-performance data movement and the virtual tape library application, the S2100 offers the highest level of scalability and performance available today. The S2100 scales from 3.5 terabytes to 200 terabytes and emulates multiple tape libraries and multiple tape cartridge formats simultaneously in a single appliance.

"It integrated seamlessly into our Veritas NetBackup/DLT tape library environment, and we have been using it daily since its installation. We have found the S2100 gives us almost 10 times the performance of our tape-based system, which allowed us to significantly reduce back-up and restore windows for our daily backups."
SEPATON will offer additional data protection applications to be deployed on the same platform by utilizing SEPATON's content-aware architecture.

Availability
The S2100 has completed beta testing at four sites; SEPATON has made several revenue shipments of the product to date.
