KROHNE's OPTISWITCH level switches are ideally suited for overfill and dry run applications in a wide variety of industries.

The OPTISWITCH level switches' tuning fork, the switches' vibrating element, is energized piezoelectrically and vibrates at the mechanical resonance frequency. The piezos, which are fixed mechanically, are not subject to temperature shock limitations. When the tuning fork is immersed in the liquid or solid, the vibrating frequency changes and is detected by the integrated oscillator and converted into a switching command.

As a result of its robust measuring system, the OPTISWITCH level switches are virtually unaffected by chemical and physical properties of a liquid or solid, including density, conductivity, dielectric constant and viscosity. The OPTISWITCH level switches guarantee continuous functionality when exposed to external vibrations and product variations by offering an integrated fault monitoring system. The OPTISWITCH level switches continuously monitor the possible corrosion or damage to the tuning fork, loss of vibration or line break to the piezo drive. If a fault is detected or voltage loss occurs, the OPTISWITCH level switches employ a defined switching condition, which deenergizes the relay.

Both the OPTISWITCH 3000 and 5000 series are available in a standard and extended tube version, and the OPTISWITCH 3000 series is also offered in a cable version.
