Intermec Expands Vehicle-Mounted Computer Line With 2475

* Industry standard Wi-Fi certified IEEE 802.11b radios
* Innovative articulating mounting arm and wired or wireless scanner support
* Rapid setup and configuration lowers costs by simplifying deployment

EVERETT. Wash., Jan. 14, 2002 - Intermec Technologies Corp. expands its line of vehicle-mounted computers with the 2475, a versatile, economical solution for retail, warehousing, and industrial applications. Like the rugged 2455, the 2475's metal construction and unique mounting design meets multiple industry requirements for a rugged data collection computer that fits on virtually all classes of forklifts and industrial vehicles.

The 2475's articulating arm allows it to be mounted in virtually any position, minimizing safety and ergonomic concerns. The arm's mounting flexibility maximizes the operator's field of view while optimizing display and keypad positioning for increased productivity.

"The 2475 provides an affordable choice for customers who need a versatile vehicle-mounted computer for less extreme operating environments," said Scott Medford, director of retail business development for Intermec. "With the 2475, you get the features and flexibility of the 2455 without paying for its ruggedness."

The 2475 is part of Intermec's popular 2400 line of data collection computers. Based on a common architecture, the
2400 family is the industry's broadest line of data collection computers, with batch and wireless handhelds, vehicle mounts and stationary data collection computers. The 2400 product line provides a complete solution from the storefront to the warehouse, supporting industry standard development tools and connectivity.

All members of the 2400 family can be quickly and easily configured via their intuitive initialization screens in only
a few short steps, minimizing the time and costs associated with system implementation.

The 2475 includes the latest IEEE 802.11b Wi-Fi certified wireless LAN technology for interoperability and wide area coverage with immunity from interference. It integrates with common host environments, either directly over the network or through Intermec's high performance data collection server. IBM and VT terminal emulations eliminate the need to re-program host applications. In addition, TCP/IP network support provides similar ease of integration with client/server environments.

Options for the Intermec 2475 include a variety of cabled and wireless laser scanners and wands. Up-to-two megabytes of additional Flash memory and two or four megabytes SRAM for extended program and data storage are also available.
